![]() Starbound doesn't have many features at moment, so that's the main difference. You just travel around and looking for anything new, but you barely really need something. What I mean is you never hunt for some special monster or need to do something special to get something special as a reward in Starbound. Sorry for my poor english.Įverything in Terraria is connected and unique, almost everything in Starbound looks random while stays the same. That's it for now, might elaborate on this more if needed be. I hope this get fixed once it's released.ĮDIT: typo and wrote Akali instead of Avali. Reasoning behind this is probably to be attributed to having to switch from planets to planets to fetch some Coal all the time, but we are lucky to have Desert biome so far. Progression feels smoother in Terraria than it does in Starbound. Won't elaborate to avoid spoilers, but yeah. ![]() Bosses fight in Terraria are WAY WAY more epic. Until you use mods, it's no good to look for magical weapons, nor waiting for a high DPS gun.īosses. In Terraria, I ended up having three characters : Melee, Ranged and Mage. Since Racial passives aren't out yet (are they), every race looks the same to me, and two-handed melee weapons are what I used all game long. Maybe I haven't been lucky in Starbound, but I've never found any decent guns (except with the Avali mod) for end-game DPS. With planets sometimes sooo big, it's a game-changer feature.ĭiversity in end-game gear. In Terraria, you lay down a bed and next time you load into the game (or use magical mirror), you are teleported to the setted spawn point. One of the biggest perks that Starbound needs is to be able to set a "spawn point" on a planet. Also, the real underground is quite something compared to the lowest layer of planets we have. Terraria has boulder, traps, hidden gold chests with Houses built over it. Thing is, you have too in Starbound as well, but it's really less interesting. You HAVE to get under the surface to get interesting goodies. What I like about Terraria and should be included in Starbound : And with nightlies, you can actually see which weather are possible to occur on the planet you are offering. Overall, Starbound has a more appealing design and offer more variety through it's placable objects.ĭifferent weather really brings something to the game. Having more than one race actually brings something unique to the game. For some times, you can even avoid digging and just exploring a few planets on their surface. About Terraria, I've finished Hardmode before last patch (fisherman thing.) I've went through Starbound's Early-Access content, toyed a bit with the nightlies. I've played both games for quite some times.
